ShadowBox Medical is the medical devision of ShadowBox Pictures, founded in 1987. Our company is structured with a core group of creative and production professionals to work alongside you in whatever capacity you need with as much engagement as you wish. We have produced hundreds of medical projects over the years for our clients. Many clients love to work collaboratively, which we encourage. Other clients are busy and prefer to take more of a supervisory approach, with little direct interaction except at key approval milestones. This varies up and down your team. At its heart, media production is a creative endeavor. That passion is what has drawn our team together, working as a team for years. The Creative Process

Creative Process

The creative process begins with creative concepts, scripts, and storyboards. These usually include things like dialogue, voice-over narration, key visual events, and on-screen-text. We work with our clients to revise these storyboards and scripts until they are just right.

Pre-production

Next we begin casting, location scouting, building sets, and doing all the necessary arrangements that are needed before filming.

Production and Filming

Need we say more. On the day(s) of your shoot we bring our team and equipment to the location work effectively and efficiently to film outstanding footage for your video. Usually our clients come to the film shoot and work with us to give immediate feedback on set. And we also provide video chat during the filming process if desired. We stream the camera feed as well as other on-set cameras so feedback can be provided remotely.

Post Production

After filming we send you a quick initial edit of the footage (rough cut) for review. Then we add graphics, animation, sound design, color correction, and other final adjustments and enhancements over a series of revisions and reviews. This gives you the oppotunity to provide feedback and approval every step of the way. We then provide you with the beautifully finished video in any format you need.

Our Medical Animation Process

Script and Storyboards

Our medical writers and illustrators start by researching your topic and designing a script and storyboards. These tell your story and include voice-over narration, key visual events, and text-on-screen. We do a series of revisions to the script and storyboards until everything is just right.

3D Model Designs

Next we make 3D Models of the main "actors" in each scene. These give you a good idea of what the main elements will look like. We make changes to these models as needed.

Rough Animation

Next we rough out the animation. Showing how the models will roughly move and behave, allowing you to see your story come to life. This includes a rough voice over and sound design so you can get a good idea of what is happening in the video. We then go through a series of revisions with you, making sure everything is understandable, behaving correctly, and the information is clearly conveyed. This includes changes to the movements, script revisions, or voice over adjustments.

Final Animation

We then render the final animation. This includes all the revisions from the previous stages with final animations, final voice over, music, lighting, background details, and finishes. We have our own render farm, with over 150 processing cores to produce the final renders. Because of this, we don't charge extra for rendering or re-rendering if adjustments needed. Once the final animation is fully approved, we deliver it in any format needed.
